2018 Brut
2018 Brut
In the glass, a brilliant straw colour with a honey hue. On the nose, notes of citrus, particularly lemon rind, are interlaced with creamy patisserie undertones. On the palate, expansive suggestions of glazed apricot, toasted almond and spun honey flavours are accented by hints of ground ginger, dried lemon peel, and marzipan. A wine of uncommon depth and precision.

FURTHER NOTES
Building on the stylistic legacy of the rich, vinous, and highly textural profile of the 2016 and 2017 vintages, our 2018 Brut has charted a parallel trajectory despite the spring frost of June 4th that year. While we commonly associate amplified climatic risk with the more delicate Vitis Vinifera grapes, like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, this late spring frost displayed a surprising degree of forgiveness towards these varieties, owing to their late primary bud break. Despite significantly lower fruit, our elevated parcels in the Gaspereau Valley managed to deliver yields of Pinot Noir that, in combination with the Chardonnay cultivated by our head viticulturist, Steve Ells, at Ellslea Vineyards, provided the quantity and quality necessary to sustain our tradition of crafting a vintage Brut.
