Culinary Assistant & Cook - Posted Feb 28, 2023

Job Description:

The Culinary Assistant and Cook is responsible for daily culinary requirements as delegated by and working closely with Culinary Manager and Chef.

We are an early adopter of a 4-day work week in which our team members are paid for 40 hours but work 36 hours a week. In return, all full-time team members will be paid to volunteer 9 hours every 8 weeks for organizations in our community. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with daily garden harvesting based on culinary needs for the day/week. This included produce for classic tasting small bites and bar bites, and Processing/cleaning garden vegetables, herbs and fruit + preparing for service daily

  • Assisting in preservation of garden produce during late summer and fall harvests

  • Classic Tasting Small bites and bar bites daily preparation and execution to order. This includes prepping seasonal and garden inspired

  • Charcuterie board preparation for Terroir Tastings

  • Assisting with inventory tracking for charcuterie & cheese boards, all small bites, archive & winemaker tastings + culinary events

  • Assisting with any weekly or daily culinary ingredient pick-ups

  • Assisting in the preparation and execution of food prep and service for pop-up events, archive and winemaker tastings.

Requirements:

  • Archive tastings occur monthly: 2.5-hour experience including 3 course farm-to-table lunch occurring twice a month
  • Winemaker tastings: 4-hour tasting with head winemaker including 4 course farm-to-table lunch, occurring twice a year
  • Pop-up events: 8 events for the season including a farm-to-table 12 seat lunch, 24 seat dinner, 2 x 80-person wine club events with small plates
  • Ensuring the highest standard of kitchen cleanliness and organization at all times

Job Description:

We are seeking a creative and talented Graphic Design Assistant to join our team. As the Graphic Design Assistant, you will work closely with our Head of Design to develop visually stunning and engaging content that promotes our brand and products.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Head of Design to maintain and develop our established brand aesthetic
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Sales departments to create compelling design content for a variety of channels, including print, digital, and social media
  • Produce graphic designs for packaging, product labels, and other marketing materials
  • Develop and maintain branded merchandise program
  • Create marketing materials, such as brochures, postcards, and other promotional materials

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in graphic design, visual communication, or related field
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
  • Excellent design, typography, and layout skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

This is a full-time position based in the Gaspereau Valley, Nova Scotia. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
