2016 Brut Reserve
2016 Brut Reserve
To sip our Brut Reserve, from any vintage, is truly to taste our ambitions, hopes, and dreams in a glass; the raison d’etre of Benjamin Bridge. By definition, the Brut Reserve is made from the best parcels of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with meticulous blending parameters that aim to bring forth a sparkling greater than the sum of its parts, no matter how diminutive the volume. The grapes are carefully hand-harvested and meticulously pressed to maintain the most pristine quality. During blending, the final wine is painstakingly selected from strictly the highest quality barrels before being aged for a decadent minimum of five years on lees prior to final disgorgement and ultimate release. A captivating and expansive wine.
TASTING NOTES
TASTING NOTES
In the glass, a deep golden wheat colour with a brilliant straw hue. On the nose, a mesmerizing blend of pear, apple, and almond is complemented by a base of spice, custard, and smoke. The palate displays a dense, exotic, and powerful textured profile with suggestions of honey, cream, minerals, stone fruit, and hazelnuts.

FURTHER NOTES
This wine is a legend in the making, possibly Benjamin Bridge's most eagerly awaited release to date. Several key factors contribute to this anticipation. First, consider the role and significance of the Brut Reserve in our qualitative hierarchy. It represents the qualitative pinnacle of each vintage, and 2016 has already established itself as one of our best sparkling vintages with two outstanding releases: the 2016 Brut and 2016 Brut Nature. Given this, the 2016 Brut Reserve is poised to be a monumental wine. Another factor, bittersweet yet making this wine even more special, is the potential closing of a historical chapter. Due to the cumulative impact of twenty years of climatic challenges, the two vineyard blocks of old vines Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, traditionally used for the Brut Reserve from 2004 to 2022, may have produced their final grapes. This marks the end of an era, and it contextualizes the 2016 vintage from start to finish, hinting that the 2016 Brut Reserve may be the finest ever. We recommend opening this wine at a time when you want to savor the present moment to the fullest.
