Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Winemaker to join our team, lead our winemaking operations and work collaboratively with our long-standing head winemaker, Jean-Benoit Deslauriers. The Senior Winemaker will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of production, from grape harvest to bottling, with a primary focus on ensuring exceptional quality control, maintaining meticulous recordkeeping, and upholding the highest standards of health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all winemaking operations, including grape selection, fermentation, aging, blending, and bottling.
  • Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes to ensure consistency and excellence in our wines.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive recordkeeping systems to track production data, inventory, and quality metrics.
  • Champion health and safety protocols throughout the winemaking process, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings without compromising quality.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to winemaking team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments, including viticulture, sales, and marketing, to support overall business objectives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best winemaking practices, and integrate relevant advancements into our processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Enology, Viticulture, Food Science, or related field.
  • Strong technical knowledge of winemaking processes, equipment, and microbiology.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality control, recordkeeping, and compliance in a winery setting.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, with the ability to use insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a commitment to excellence and continuous learning.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

  •  Preparing the tasting station with the given products to be displayed. (Information, coasters, post cards, etc.) 
  • Taking photos of the display to provide to sales lead.
  • Communicating any issues, concerns or questions directly to sales lead.
  • Engaging, attracting, and intercepting customers to promote brand awareness. 
  • Responsibly distributing complimentary samples. Being comfortable asking for ID when necessary. 
  • Answering basic questions about the product with provided learning materials. 
  • Encourage follow up purchase of product by directing to in store purchase, online retail, or winery direct. 
  • Packing away, cleaning and tidying sampling station. Reporting back to sales lead.

Position Requirements:

  • 19+
  • Hospitality experience considered an asset 
  • Ability to work 4-hour shifts
