In the glass, pale yellow colour with a green hue. A fascinating nose opens with lemon balm and reveals chalky nuances of mint, gooseberry, and a touch of almond. On the palate, a succession of juicy citrus, cassis, and esh botanicals are wrapped around an energetic mineral core. A weightless veil of toasted oak lives at the threshold of delectability yet provides an elegant sense of warmth.

FUTHER NOTES

The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc is a tale of viticultural resilience and stereotype disproving.

It’s very interesting that in a year of such climatic hardship, the Sauvignon Blanc did significantly better than other varieties which are usually better equipped to withstand cold temperatures in the winter months. A historically unpredictable Cuvee emerged, unspoiled and radiant, from arguably the most difficult vintage in the history of Benjamin Bridge.

In a vintage marked by a severe spring frost that wiped out entire vineyards and left others partially affected, one could intuitively speculate that grape varieties labelled as more susceptible to cold temperatures would fare the worst.

Within our viticultural portfolio, Sauvignon Blanc is arguably our least winter hardy variety, and was kept an integral part of our program thanks to repeatedly spectacular wines worth the unconditional determination to replant the many vines lost along the way.

Wild fermented and aged in 100% neutral French oak, this unfiltered and minimalist wine proves once again that when Nova Scotia Sauvignon goes to bottle, a special outcome awaits.
