2018 Tidal Bay
Regular price $21.95/
In 2010 Nova Scotia launched its own wine appellation – Tidal Bay – to showcase a vibrant and refreshing white wine compatible with our coastal terroir along the Bay of Fundy.
An independent technical committee ensures that only the wines displaying the region’s distinct characteristics and meeting a rigorous set of standards are approved to wear the appellation seal.
A devastating late spring frost on the morning of June 4, 2018, decimated the year’s crop for many Nova Scotia grape growers. Our estate in the Gaspereau Valley experienced an 80% loss. Conversely, our Kingsport estate had very little impact, as vineyards closer to the North Mountain of the Annapolis Valley fared far better.
Relying upon the same spirit of collaboration that led to Nova Scotia’s first wine appellation, our quality-driven grape growers provided impressive fruit that contributed to this blend of l’Acadie, Vidal and Seyval.
As many other scarce vintages have demonstrated before, the reduced yields resulted in elevated levels of concentration and intensity. Each surviving berry received higher levels of energy from the vine and then, in our case, the grape must underwent a wild ferment to ensure an even more transparent expression of this history-making vintage.
The result is a wonderfully vibrant and drinkable vintage with an incredibly expansive texture.
