Our 2018 Riesling aligns with the most fundamental qualities of Nova Scotia wines: refreshing, energized by natural acidity, and, more importantly, an ageing ability measured in decades. Created in the light, off-dry style of German Kabinett wines, this new vintage is one to try. Often praised as a favourite for many wine enthusiasts, Riesling is a highly-aromatic, cool-climate-loving, ever-versatile variety known for producing a wide array of wine styles and pairing with just about any fare.

TASTING NOTES

In the glass, a light golden colour with a pale green hue. On the nose, a medley of spring blossoms and freshly cut botanicals combine for a sense of exhilarating freshness. The palate is stunningly vibrant and multilayered with hints of pear, cassis, bergamot, white flowers, and juicy white peach. The finish features lingering and ethereal notes of ripe stone fruit.

FURTHER NOTES

Our 2018 vintage embraces the classic Germanic roots that led to the planting of Riesling in Nova Scotia. Harvested in late October, after a very warm final stretch of summer emulating the warmer summers of Alsace, this unique wine underwent a partial yet lengthy indigenous and unaided fermentation, lasting an impressive 18 months. Fermented and aged exclusively in stainless steel vessels, the wine has retained its electric zest in the absence of malolactic fermentation. This six-year-old Riesling has not only been youthfully preserved, but it has acquired the exceptional textural qualities and complexity only aged Rieslings possess. This wine presents an opportunity to explore, as Riesling ages, the emergence of a fascinating spectrum of aromas and flavours inducing beeswax, smoke, pine forest, honey, lemon candy and citrus preserve.
